Found in the Crocodile-Incomati system at altitudes of 900-1,200 m (Ref. 7248). Threatened by increasing extraction and regulation of river water as well as pollution. A catchment management committee has been formed to identify and alleviate some of the major threats (Ref. 26172). Also Ref. 3881, 27553.
